DHURUVANGAL PATHINARU(D-16) REVIEW:
Cast : Rahman, Ashwin Kumar
Director : Karthik Naren
Music: Jakes Bejoy
A scene where Rahman asks two guys “ short film title enna?”
“Pradhi(Director’s short film)”, replies the guys. Karthik Naren, a 22 year Coimbatore
guy learning film making with short films and making his debut venture,
Dhuruvangal Pathinaru. D-16 is about a cop (Rahman) solving a murder.
In 1994, Pulp
fiction, a film by Tarentino was popularly spoken for non linear narration. In 2016,
D-16 will set a great example for such non linear narration. The narration does
not spoon feed the details, but lets the audience do the thinking. You can find
yourself thinking with Rahman during the film. The amount of detailing in the
script makes it flawless without any logical loopholes.
Rahman’ s acting glorify Karthik’s vision. Every other
characters has a very crucial roles in the story and each of them had done
their justice. The sounds and background music by Jakes Bejoy is another hero
along with Rahman.
When the narration is non linear, editor has the responsibility
of convincing the audience. The editor has beautifully crafted, bringing
everyone to the edge of the seat. The Cinematography and clarity in the visuals
gives a Hollywood touch to the film.
Verdict: There are a few films that glues your eyes to
screen, but D-16 glues your mind and plays tricks with it.
