BOGAN REVIEW
Cast: Jeyam Ravi, Aravind Swamy,
Hansika, Akshara
Direction: Lakshman
Music: D.Imman
Bogan, the ‘Romeo Juliet’ crew’s
second film with the much appreciated ‘Thani Oruvan’ duo, is a commercial film with
a fantasy concept of body swapping forming the core idea of the plot. The
script is well written with a great content for a feature film. But the
screenplay played a downside during the progress of the film.
The Jeyam Ravi and Aravind Swamy
duo’s performance cannot be compared to their previous film, yet their
performance is brilliant. The body language shift and their expressions in the
second half of the film is definitely a treat to the audience. The film does
not kick start with a engaging story as it starts with jejune romance of
Hansika and Ravi. Hansika’s dubbing voice has a lot of expressions while her face
remains impassive.
As the movie starts dull, it
takes time to gain pace and interest the audience. Once the main story starts,
the film is very engaging with a entertaining cat-mouse game. When the audience
comes to a conclusion that it is going to end well, the movie runs into a below
average fight climax. The screenplay is brilliant at a few portions and as well
as worse when climax seems to be extended and misplaced songs.
Bogan doesn not look or feel like
a normal commercial film only because of the background score and
cinematography. Soundararajan, the cinematographer has captured each shot with
great clolours giving a luxury feeling throughout the film. Though Imman’s
songs are not note worthy, his background score is brilliant and many will be
waiting for its Jukebox and ringtones to be released.
Verdict: A good meal without
desserts.
