11 memorable characters by VIJAY

When one has his father as a successful film maker and he directs his first seven films, he is definitely has a edge over other actors. Though he has acted as a kid in some of his father’s movies, his first film as a hero is “Naalaya Theerpu” at 1992. None of his first few films were neither a box office hit nor critically acclaimed. In fact he was brutally criticized. His first breakthrough was for ‘Poove Unakaga’, 1996. Later his career was a roller coaster with humongous success and failure. Many quote him as a ‘Father made hero’ but the Star he is now is by his choice of family based scripts, effortless dance, excellent sense of humor and cute expressions (Where he rolls his tongue at the corner of the mouth). Vijay, the name itself depicts victory. He is always a producer’s hero.

Through his 24 year career, He has acted in several characters that are close to any vijay fan’s heart and the common audience too. Here are 11 memorable characters played by Vijay,
  • Poove Unakaga as Raja
The first blockbuster hit for Vijay. How does Raja unites two families for the marriage of his one sided lover with her boyfriend. The climax dialogue about love is one of the best dialogues by Vijay.
  • Kadhaluku Mariyadhai as Jeeva

Vijay’s transformation into a chocolate boy happened Kadhaluku Mariyadhai which was followed by many romantic films. Vijay’s costumes, acting were redefined. His trademark dance step (a tiny head shake with his hands wide open) is from this film.
  • Thamizan as Surya

Vijay’s character as lawyer Surya is sketched in a way that people want a lawyer like him in real life. A strong character that talks about certain important issues, which could be related even today. In his film Friends he uttered a word ‘ilthakasaiya’ which was popular among audience, like wise his ‘luptup pathy’ in this film was popular.
  • Thirumalai as Thirumalai

The film that started Vijay’s mass masala commercial films. Vijay’s dance along with Lawrence is astonishing. “Vazhkai oru vattam da..” dialogue is still popular and so relatable to one’s life.
  • Kushi as Shiva

Shiva, a handsome college teen falls in love with Jennifer (played with Jothika). Their battle with their own ego is the film. SJ Suryah started the film by telling what will happen in the film. Indeed it’s a brave move.
  • Gilli as Velu

Many criticize this film for a logical flaw of entering into finals without playing semi finals, but the tamil film to collect 50 crores. It’s a remake of a Telugu film, yet it was well received by Tamil audience and is one of the most favorite films of any Vijay fan.
  • Sachein as Sachein

Sachein released along with Chandramuki and Mumbai express. The film was a box office success, but it showed Vijay’s sense of humor along with his cute expressions. The comedy track with Vadivelu is considered best in both their careers.
  • Pokkiri as Thamizh/ Sathyamoorthy

It’s a remake of a Telugu film, but still the attitude that Vijay carried through the film made it a memorable one. His gutsy attitude against the antagonist, played by Prakash Raj, is commendable.
  • Thuppaki as Jagdesh

After a series of flops, Thuppaki was the biggest hit. Captain Jagdesh was totally new character played by Vijay. The interval block shooting 12 men, rescuing operation with help of dog, dialogue about the commitment of military personals are some of the best scenes.
  • Kaththi as Jeevanantham

Vijay played a dual role, Katheerasan and Jeevanantham. Katheerasan is yet another usual Vijay character, but Jeevanantham is one of the most loved character. This character had a different body language, dialogue delivery.
  • Theri as Vijay Kumar

Police stories in Tamil cinema has always had a special bonding with audience. Vijay Kumar IPS is Vijay’s best police character. He also plays a role of a father which is refreshing. The interval block’s dialogue is the best part of the film, which also addresses a major problem of this society.

Velaikkaran Review

Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Nayanthara, Fahad Fazil, Rohini Music: Anirudh Direction: Mohan Raja Mohan Raja decides to narrate the core problem from the first scene. The narration dialogue in the opening relating genetic disorder and social hierarchy tells the director has brought us another social issue. The problem which Arivu (Sivakarthikeyan) face gets dedicated attention. The story and screenplay is written around the problem which get rids of unnecessary contents. Yet we get a duet song post interval which seems misfit. Arivu’s character is brilliantly written and its Sivakarthikeyan’s best in his career. He opens a radio station for his slum and he wants to awake his slum people from certain misguided things. This trait becomes huge as film progress and now he cares for whole nation. The stories inside the slum and the main problem get linked in a marvellous way. The scene that relates two different professions is amazing. The film has many characters and not

Arjun Reddy Review

Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini, Rahul Ramakrishna, Music: Radhan Direction: Sandeep Vanga When the film gets over and while you walk out of the theatre have you heard a few people saying “It’s a normal same old story” (No one did for this film). Arjun Reddy is such a film with same old story. Arjun Reddy (played by Vijay Deverakonda, about whom I will talk in a while) is a topper in his medical college and a short tempered guy with zero anger management. He meets a first year girl, Preethi (played by Shalini) and they fall in love. What happens to Arjun after his love failure is what explored in a unique way. So this not a film that you can expect every year. This is a film that has a beautiful narration enthralling you for 3 hours. The initial scenes when Arjun frequently visits Preethi are a little surprising as Preethi never utters a word whenever he visits her. You start thinking what kind of love it is. But the love that Arjun has on Preethi is explained in

Thoughts on Vishwaroopam

*Spoiler ahead With Vishwaroopam 2 scheduled to release around this weekend (Hopefully, considering all Kamal films face release issues), I decided to write on the things that I loved in Vishwaroopam. Vishwaroopam 2 is a prequel as well as a sequel to the 2013 release Vishwaroopam. Kamal Hassan as a writer and director has always impressed me more than the actor. Vishwaroopam is a treat for someone like me who likes the writer Kamal Hassan. The story of Vishwaroopam starts with Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) talking to her counselor about her relationship with Vishwanath (Kamal Hassan) and her secret relationship with Deepak (her boss). Kamal Hassan’s writing is clever. See how Nirupama refers to him to her counselor, as Wiz, which is short from of his real name Wizam Ahmed Kasmiri also for his spy name Vishwanath. Only a very few actors have command over their body. Kamal Hassan has mastered it. The transformation scene, where he fights after being innocent works every tim
