Cast: Vasanth Ravi, Andrea Jeremiah
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Direction: Ram
When Althea ( Andrea Jeremiah), a girl working in a corporate
stands aside in shade to avoid rain and Prabhunath ( Vasanth Ravi) is sitting
under the same shade. Althea’s mind runs all the news related to rape. Prabhu
mind reads and tells “I am not going to rape you”. Prabhu opens up about his
past and scenes later try to tell you this is yet another romance film. After
the film, I would still call it a romance film but narrated in the most unique
way. Their love is not disturbed because of different castes but different life
styles. Althea and Prabhunath’s characters are brilliant and the way it changes
as their life moves on (as film moves on) is beautiful and convincing.
The film starts in a unusual way with Ram’s voice explaining
why six women are praying that India to lose in the ‘India versus Sri Lanka’ cricket
match. After you hear the explanation, you would think the film is gonna
unravel in different way. As Althea and Prabhu starts talking we start thinking
why did the director write a scene like this? How could this happen in real
life? Ram answers such questions with his voice over dialogues. He claims his voice
overs as Facebook status between the movie, but those were the most happening
moments of the film.
In one of his voice overs, he tells that ‘he is tying head
and legs together, it’s up to you to understand’. The story of the later half
ties knot with the first half of the film in a surprising manner. A same kind
of situation is explored in three different perspectives. One involves Vasanth
Ravi, Azhagam Perumal and the producer himself as cop. The film touches
everyone’s soul at the end of their perceptives.
The story tries to explore many elements and the delighted
that it has convincingly captured the emotions. When Althea is harassed in the
office by her boss, the way she handles it make you feel that every women show
be like her. They always say men have some privileges which woman don’t and the
film elegantly breaks it. Andrea’s performance definitely needs a special
mention. She nailed it as Althea.
The ariel shots of sea, Taramani and many more are so
breath taking. As we add different flavors to our food, the background music adds emotions to the film. when Ram tries to
explain what a guy will do when he starts loving a girl is hilarious and along
with Yuvan’s music it creates that extra laugh responsible for our cheeks to
ache. His music towards the clichéd climax is what makes everyone to move
towards the edge of the seat.
Verdict: Matured romance with satirical commentary
