Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Nayanthara, Fahad Fazil, Rohini
Music: Anirudh
Direction: Mohan Raja
Mohan Raja decides to narrate the core problem from the first
scene. The narration dialogue in the opening relating genetic disorder and
social hierarchy tells the director has brought us another social issue. The
problem which Arivu (Sivakarthikeyan) face gets dedicated attention. The story
and screenplay is written around the problem which get rids of unnecessary contents.
Yet we get a duet song post interval which seems misfit.
Arivu’s character is brilliantly written and its
Sivakarthikeyan’s best in his career. He opens a radio station for his slum and
he wants to awake his slum people from certain misguided things. This trait
becomes huge as film progress and now he cares for whole nation. The stories
inside the slum and the main problem get linked in a marvellous way. The scene
that relates two different professions is amazing.
The film has many characters and not everyone play a crucial
role. But the characters contribute to the story and do not disturb the
narration. Ponni (played by Rohini), Arivu’s mother, narrates a story to him is
brilliant. Mohan Raja’s dialogues deserve a separate applause. His dialogues
question the audience and strictly stay relevant to script.
The director’s previous film, Thani Oruvan, had strong
characters for both protagonist and antagonist. This film lacks in antagonist’s
character and the film becomes one sided and predictable. The film becomes one man show as there are no
great notable performances other than Sivakarthikeyan. Fahad Fazil and
Nayanthara are played to their role.
Thanks to the situations that are created and curiosity of
how hero and villain are going to deal them makes it interesting. Mohan Raja writes a climax that
instantly connects to the audience and I was able to see the audience’s
reaction in the theatre.
Verdict: A problem, story around it. Amazing execution!
Dude if you don't mind I'll ask something?. . .Prakash Raj,Satish ivanga pathi solala? And how was the songs? And the story is around good adulteration right? About that ?
ReplyDeleteSathish hardly comes for 10 minutes. Prakash Raj has an important role, but not his best which we saw in Ghilli or other films. Yes it's about food adulteration. The story is good, but becomes predictable.
Deletethe first song was really good...and another song is misfit...other songs are part of scenes as background score.
