Bharat ane nenu Review

Cast: Mahesh Babu, Kiara Advani, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Direction: Koratala Siva

Bharat (Mahesh Babu), a five degree holder comes to India from London after hearing the news of his father’s demise. Raghava (Sarath Kumar) is Bharat’s father and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Varadaraj (Prakash Raj), a close friend of Raghava wants Bharat to be the next Chief Minister. He becomes the Chief Minister. In the first scene of the film, Bharat answering to the question why he has five degrees that he does not know many things and want to learn.

That’s some solid writing by Koratala Siva. He takes up the CM post because he does not know anything about it, which he honestly admits at first day of his charge. Another well written and edited scene is when the young Bharat eats ice cream breaking his promise to his mother. The following advice on promise becomes Bharat’s life principle. The scene one expects someone saying Bharat has not eaten since then, but we see sun light enter his bedroom. Her mother relates sun rise to promise in the before scene.

The dialogues are well written for this political drama. Every dialogue that targets audience are said looking into the camera. One of my favourite line is when a head constable tells “He is not a political leader, he is a leader”.  I really loved the way how director used a word, which Bharat first find it difficult to pronounce, to bring goose bumps later.

You have the typical slow motion edits whenever he walks, gets off a helicopter, etc. Though these are moments where fans go frenzy, I loved his press meet speech. His fingers snapping after telling everything he has during his tenure was a delight to watch. The fight sequences are well choreographed, especially the fight inside the theatre.

Thanks to some refreshing fights, or else this film would have been fall into commercial trap among the interesting political drama. The songs are a forceful addition to the screenplay. We get song for hero’s introduction, actress’ admiration towards hero, when they confess their love and other formulaic places. I really loved the “Bharat ane nenu” song used as background when he takes his chair at his office and “This is me” line tune is played when he adjusts his nameplate.

Verdict: Good writing and direction with the commercial formulaic screenplay.

Arjun Reddy Review

Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini, Rahul Ramakrishna, Music: Radhan Direction: Sandeep Vanga When the film gets over and while you walk out of the theatre have you heard a few people saying “It’s a normal same old story” (No one did for this film). Arjun Reddy is such a film with same old story. Arjun Reddy (played by Vijay Deverakonda, about whom I will talk in a while) is a topper in his medical college and a short tempered guy with zero anger management. He meets a first year girl, Preethi (played by Shalini) and they fall in love. What happens to Arjun after his love failure is what explored in a unique way. So this not a film that you can expect every year. This is a film that has a beautiful narration enthralling you for 3 hours. The initial scenes when Arjun frequently visits Preethi are a little surprising as Preethi never utters a word whenever he visits her. You start thinking what kind of love it is. But the love that Arjun has on Preethi is explained in...

Mayaanadhi Review

Cast: Tovino Thomas, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Illavarasu Year: 2017 Music: Rex Vijayan Direction: Aashiq Abu It took me hours to come out this film. Mayaanadhi is a type of film that traps you into its world and leaves you enthralled. In the opening sequence we hear Maathan (Tovino Thomas) taking about his future and we see sky as the visual. The future is vast and so far away like the sky. Mayaanadhi is a romantic thriller. The romance of Maathan and Aparna (Aishwarya Lekshmi) is just amazing and used wonderfully to the crime part of the film. Tovino as Maathan not only looks good but also his acting is brilliant. His small facial expressions like getting frustrated for a phone call or while motivating Aparna over call adds value to the character. Aishwarya Lekshmi as Aparna Ravi is also brilliant on screen. I loved the scene where she slaps Maathan, walks away fast, and then gradually slows down till she stops. One of the biggest things that Malayalam cinema doe...

Aramm Review

Cast: Nayanthara, Ramesh, Vignesh Music: Ghibran Direction: Gopi Nainar I don’t know whether director wrote the district collector character to be women or changed it when Nayanthara was on board. Whatever it maybe, the female IAS officer has added the movie more authenticity. The decisions which Madhivadani (Nayanthara) takes towards the end of the film are emotional ones which we can’t see in a hero-centric films. We are used to hero diving into the situation, however tough it is, and completing the mission. The film is about the rescue mission of a small girl, Thanshika, who falls down inside an unclosed borewell hole. This is not that one day or one incident (like Gautham Menon’s hero tells) of Madhivadani, rather the issue is given more importance. So the most we know about Madhivadani is her name. The news channel debate that fills in the gap between two scenes is little annoying as it stresses the same point that of people of the village. The people o...
